August 1, 2011-According to reports a pregnant woman was killed in a hit and run crash in Victorville. According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials the accident occurred at approximately 10:30 Friday night in on Balsam Avenue. The victim Dejuan Rene Smith age 20 was pushing a stroller with her 14 month old daughter on Balsam Avenue, when she was struck by a Ford pickup truck from behind. According to paramedics the 20 year old Victorville pregnant mother was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Smiths 14 month old daughter was transported to the hospital.
The infant was transported by paramedics to Loma Linda University medical Center with minor injuries and has been released. According to San Bernardino Sheriff officials the Ford truck that was involved in the hit and run should have a passenger mirror missing and should have right front side damage.
